SA AMONG LEADING COUNTRIES WITH FEMALE RESEARCHERS
Minister Naledi Pandor says SA is one of the leading countries for female researchers in universities.
JOHANNESBURG - Science and Technology Minister Naledi Pandor says South Africa is one of the leading countries for female researchers, with women constituting around 40 percent of the field.
The minister was speaking at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, where she has urged female students to make the most of the opportunities in science and technology that have been made available since 1994.
Her spokesman Lunga Ngqene-Lele says more females have risen to seize opportunities and made a mark for themselves.
“Of the 40,000 researchers at universities, science counsel and businesses, our latest research and development survey records indicate that nearly half are women. The rights and status of women in South Africa have been greatly advanced since South Africa became a constitutional democracy.”
